Esmee Veenstra defends her PhD dissertation

Warmest congratulations to Dr Esmee Veenstra for the recent defence of her PhD dissertation!

Esmee researched corporate social responsibility (CSR): how organisations recognise and enact their role in addressing societal challenges. The dissertation addresses why some organisations have an enduring commitment to corporate social responsibility, while in others this fails to take root. Esmee has found that “CSR engagement can arise when it is grounded in shared values, internalized within organizational identity, and reflected in everyday decision-making–not merely codified in policy or driven by external compliance.”

Esmee has produced a pocket guide to her dissertation (in Dutch), synthesising insights from research and offering practical tools: from recognising motivational profiles to embedding societal goals in policy, collaboration, and organisational culture.

You can read Esmee’s dissertation, “Embracing corporate social responsibility: How organizations can foster sustainable commitment to societal impact” here.

Esmee will continue working with SCOOP as a postdoctoral researcher on the “Developing and Validating evidence-based interventions” synthesis project. Once again, congratulations to Dr Veenstra!
