Dr. S.F.F. (Felix) Schaff
Biography
Felix Schaff is an economic historian and recently received his PhD from the London School of Economics. He studies the long run evolution and the causes of socio-economic inequality in Europe, combining archival data with microeconometric and national accounting methods. His research agenda involves three main themes. Firstly, he constructs inequality and poverty statistics for Central-Western Europe between the Black Death (1345) and the nineteenth century. Secondly, he investigates the effects on inequality of several forces grounded in the political economy of early-modern Europe, such as warfare, urban governmental institutions, the Protestant Reformation, and inheritance institutions. Thirdly, he investigates the historical roots of gender inequality.
