Dr. M. (Marieke) Vermue

Postdocs

Biography

In her work als social psychologist and researcher, dr. Marieke Vermue focuses on connecting behavioural scientific knowledge to policy formation and societal challenges. Her specialization is in intergroup relations. During my PhD research, she has studied the effect of intergroup contact on improving trust between individuals of different social and political groups. Intergroup Contact Theory provides a broad range of knowledge on how social interactions between people can reduce prejudice and discrimination.

After her PhD, she has worked for governmental institutions as a data scientist and advisor on datadriven work. In her current position as postdoc with the Organizational Behaviour group of Naomi Ellemers, she will focus on connecting behavioural scientific knowledge from this group with the work of the Netherlands Institute for Social Research (SCP). The goal of this collaboration is to strengthen each other's work and to bridge the gap between the social science and policy domains.
