Mandy Muller and Ömer Ergün featured in de Volkskrant article

SCOOP PhD researchers Mandy Muller and Ömer Ergün have been interviewed in a recent article in de Volkskrant, “Ideaal of verplichting: wat werkt beter om iemand de ‘juiste’ keuze te laten maken?” (Ideal or obligation: what works better to help someone make the ‘right’ choice?) by journalist Miluska van Rompu. The article also features SCOOP Fellow Dr. Félice van Nunspeet

The news article details the research that Mandy and Ömer are undertaking at Utrecht University’s Integrity and Ethical behavior lab. In their experiment, research participants’ sense of reward is measured by an EEG as they try to raise money for a fictitious climate fund. By studying the participants’ brain waves, Mandy and Ömer are looking to discover what motivates people to take action: a feeling of moral responsibility, or a call to their ideals?
