Summer School on Cascading Disasters, Institutions and Organizations (CAINO)

Understanding the institutional and organizational aspects of disaster and risk preparedness and emergency management

Are you a motivated and curious student (MA, Ph.D.) who wants to learn more about the institutional and organizational aspects of cascading and multiple disasters? Are you interested in joining a multidisciplinary group of leading scholars and practitioners working on risk preparedness and emergency management?

Then the CAINO Summer School at the University of Groningen is the fit for you!

The CAINO (Cascading Disasters, Institutions and Organizations) summer school intends to shed new light on such questions by providing advanced knowledge on the political dimensions of cascading disasters and on the role of emergency management networks. Equipped with this knowledge, participants will be trained in an inter-and transdisciplinary learning environment combining theory, methods, and practice into group projects.

The program will be led by Francesca Giardini, SCOOP Senior and Associate Professor at the University of Groningen, in collaboration with Clara Egger, Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen.
